From the year of its foundation in 1981, Qwan Ki Do experienced an extraordinary worldwide development.
Master Pham Xuan Tong, assisted by various national leaders, developed the school in various countries around the world. The marriage between Master Pham Xuan Tong and his most loyal disciple, Master Roberto Vismara, proved to be particularly important.
Their friendship and collaboration for the growth and spread of Qwan Ki Do dates back to 1976, when Master Pham Xuan Tong still operated under the umbrella of the Council of Vietnamese Martial Arts Masters, as a representative of the Quan Ky school.
In the same year the Qwan Ki Do school was founded, the French Federation of Qwan Ki Do and the Italian Union of Qwan Ki Do were founded.
In parallel with the worldwide diffusion of the method, these two national organizations experienced an extraordinary development of cadres and practitioners which reached its peak in the mid-1990s.
On an international level, in 1981, Maestro Pham Xuan Tong and Maestro Roberto Vismara laid the foundations of the World Union of Qwan Ki Do which would then be officially registered with a notarial deed in Milan in 1989.
The organization set itself the objectives of developing and spreading the Sino-Vietnamese martial art in all its aspects, including ethical and philosophical ones, and to guarantee the uniformity and homogeneity of the school through the coordination and support of the individual national organizations.
The union between these two personalities proved successful over the years: to the extraordinary caliber of Master Pham Xuan Tong as martial artist and founder of Qwan Ki Do, Master Roberto Vismara added not only a rich technical background strongly oriented towards innovation and transmission , but an unparalleled determination towards pedagogical development, the dissemination of the school at an international level and an organizational vision based on the strength of the collective and strongly projected towards the future.
It is on the basis of these skills that Maestro Roberto Vismara was first appointed General Secretary and subsequently General Manager of the World Union.
His technical preparation and his role as a propeller of the organization at an international level earned him in 2009 the recognition by Master Tong and the Council of Elders of the appointment to Su Truong, or "Guarantor Protector of the Method" and Official Representative of the Master Founder.
In 2014, taking note of the significant international development achieved by Qwan Ki Do, the International Qwan Ki Do Federation (IQKDF) was established with the primary purpose of organizing and coordinating all the competitive activities of Qwan Ki Do on a continental and global level, showcase in international representation activities.
The General Management of the International Technical Council was entrusted to Maestro Roberto Vismara.
